Mini drawing of Captain James T. Kirk that I drew in the note space of October 1st in my 2023 diary, which is the day that I watched Star Trek: The Motion Picture for the first time.

Despite having watched it a year ago, I only finished the drawing this morning, because, as I’m sure you know by now, I am very slow at getting round to some things sometimes!

It took me a while to get Kirk’s face right, because, as every Trekkie artist knows, William Shatner’s face is frustratingly difficult to get right! I’m still not sure that I’m happy with it, but I was getting so desperate to finish him before the year anniversary of me watching this film that I just called him done after a while. I coloured in the film title based off of the movie’s film poster.

I really want to watch this film again soon, because I usually enjoy films more the second time around and I wasn’t too enamoured with this film when I watched it. There were too many (very) long shots of the Enterprise, I think (I know it’s a beautiful ship, but still). Overall I did enjoy the film though, and I look forward to watching it again.

I’m genuinely curious as to how broke the USS is. Why is Kirk’s shirt always getting ripped?(yes I know it’s for fan service but how would the producers defend this choice in a way that would make sense in that universe other than obvious fan service for the viewer?) How low is their budget for uniforms.???? And Kirk is a captain it’s not like it’s his first day on the job and he doesn’t deserve a good quality uniform that’ll last him idk like actually 5 whole years.

Just something I could rabble on for forever. Anyhow, I’m grateful for the fan service.
